NICU-Provided Food in Family Lounge (Sunnybrook)

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto ON

Sandwiches, cheese & crackers, yogurt, bananas, oranges, granola bars, cookies, Nutrigrain bars, applesauce cups, milk and cream (in fridge) sourced from hospital food services and supported by NICU operating budget. A few items (oatmeal packets, Keurig coffee pods, tea bags) purchased from stores using donated funds.

Food is self-serve and replenished on weekdays.

We have additional programs to help families experiencing food insecurity, but the food provided in the lounge is open to everyone (non-stigmatizing), does not require disclosure of circumstances to anyone, and is intended to make it easier for families to be present in the NICU, so they can be with their babies more often or for longer periods of time.
