Ambassador Program

Our Ambassador Program serves a dual purpose: raising awareness of the CPBF and the essential resources we offer and allows us an opportunity to support NICU parents in hospitals. Through this program, ambassadors host Parent Cafes—gatherings within the NICU that offer a comforting space for parents to connect over a complimentary lunch or coffee and treats.

The program was launched in Winnipeg in March 2025 and we are growing in hospitals across Canada. Ambassadors, often NICU parents themselves, bring personal insights and empathy, facilitating an environment of support and community.

A Parent Cafe is a casual get-together hosted within the NICU, where current NICU parents can relax, share experiences, and find solace in the company of others on similar journeys. These gatherings are not just about the refreshments; they're supported by CPBF Ambassadors and hospital staff like Social Workers or Parent Partners, ensuring a supportive, informative environment.

Hospitals interested in bringing this wonderful initiative to their NICU can easily start by reaching out to CPBF. We manage the details—recruiting, interviewing, and training ambassadors, as well as conducting necessary background checks. Additionally, we provide a monthly budget to cover all essentials for hosting the Parent Cafes.

CPBF Ambassadors act as a critical link between hospital staff and the CPBF. Their responsibilities include getting to know the staff in the unit, discussing CPBF's resources with them, assisting with the hosting of in-unit events, and communicating the staff's needs back to the Foundation. This role ensures that the partnership between the hospital and CPBF effectively supports families of premature babies.

The program is ideally suited for NICU parents whose babies are at least one-year post-discharge. We believe that those who have walked this path themselves can offer invaluable support and understanding. The time commitment is minimal, approximately 4 hours per month, making it an accessible way to give back and make a significant impact.
