New! RSV Policy Brief: Advancing Equitable Protection for Infants Across Canada
The Canadian Premature Babies Foundation (CPBF) has developed a comprehensive, evidence-based policy brief advocating for equitable access to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) prophylaxis for all infants across Canada. RSV is a leading cause of infant hospitalization, with the most severe impacts affecting babies born prematurely and those with underlying medical conditions.
While effective preventative therapies exist, access to RSV protection varies across provinces due to differences in funding coverage, eligibility criteria, and public health policies, leaving many vulnerable infants without adequate protection.
Drawing on clinical evidence and the lived experiences of families, this policy brief highlights current disparities and outlines recommendations for a coordinated national approach to RSV prevention. Its goal is to support policy and advocacy efforts that ensure every infant in Canada has equitable access to RSV protection, regardless of where they live.
Thank you to your partners Merck and Sanofi for supporting this initiative.
