KANGAROO-A-THON
May 2026
CPBF’s National Kangaroo-A-Thon
The Canadian Premature Babies Foundation (CPBF) is proud to launch our first National Kangaroo-A-Thon, uniting neonatal units across Canada throughout the month of May in a friendly Kangaroo Care challenge, with Level 2 units and Level 3 units each competing within their own level. This national initiative aligns with International Kangaroo Awareness Day, held on May 15th, a global event recognized since 2011 that highlights the importance of skin-to-skin care for babies.
This initiative builds on the success of our Toronto hospital-based Kangaroo-A-Thon last year, where staff and families united around a common goal and witnessed increased parental confidence and engagement through supported cuddling.

How It Works
-
Register your hospital by April 24.
*Hospitals that register before April 10 will be mailed a FREE resource toolkit including posters, tally forms, parent letters and infographics. If registering after this date, hospitals will have access to the digital resource kit with the same content.* -
Decide which two weeks your hospital will run the contest, May 1 - 15 OR May 15 - 29.
-
We will supply you with Kangaroo-A-Thon posters to promote and encourage families to participate in Kangaroo Care.
-
We will supply you with a letter for your parents and CPBF tally forms to record hours.
-
Submit your hospital’s total hours and the number of babies on our website between May 15 and June 5.
-
The winning hospitals will be contacted on June 10th. The winning Level 2 and Level 3 hospitals will each receive a $500 gift card towards a staff lunch and a CPBF-hosted in-person event with refreshments and gift bags distributed to families, including JoeyBands.
